Mapache

Breaking with the overconsumption dictated by the obsolete rules of fast-fashion, Mapache is working for a return to more responsible and sustainable fashion . Member of the Make Friday Green Again collective since November 2021 , they are committed to embodying and widely promoting more virtuous fashion. Their key mission? Make craftsmanship accessible and trendy.

At Mapache, a French brand of shoes and bags, commitments occupy a central place in their daily lives.

The raison d'être of Mapache is based above all on the promotion of an ancestral craft: that of the traditional Mexican huarache, made from the braiding of authentic leather and an exciting know-how. Highlighting the work of their craftsmen remains their primary vocation.

In immediate connection with the previous commitment, they are committed to expanding their project through an approach that aims to be as fair as possible. This obviously requires a reasoned production, a real proximity with their craftsmen, but above all a respect for the latter by allowing them to live decently from their work thanks to a fair remuneration.

Sensitive to changes in consumption patterns (and more broadly those of society), they are definitely working for a more “slow” fashion. Because by being players in the second most polluting industry in the world, they are aware of having a crucial role to play in this return to basics. The artisanal manufacture of their shoes is a first step, which they complete with the absence of private sales and sales in order to avoid overproduction as much as possible.
